Now let's look at two common methods of bleaching pulp:

One is the oxidation bleaching method, which uses the oxidation bleaching agent to destroy the structure of lignin and dissolve it, so as to improve the purity and whiteness of pulp. Such bleaching agents include chlorine, chlorine dioxide and hypochlorite.

The other is reductive bleaching, which uses reductive bleaching agent to change the structure of chromogenic group and decolor it. Such bleaching agents include zinc dithionite, sodium dithionite, hydrogen peroxide and sodium peroxide.

Chlorine and sulfur all over the screen have made us dizzy.

Then let's popularize the science of dioxins.

It has been inseparable from us in life.

Dioxin is the most toxic compound so far. Its toxicity is 130 times that of sodium cyanide and 900 times that of arsenic. It is called "poison in poison". The World Health Organization listed it as a toxic chemical equivalent to the toxicity of insecticide DDT.

Dioxins have strong carcinogenic and teratogenic effects. Animal experiments show that dioxins first induce liver and respiratory system cancers, then lead to immune system diseases and increase the chance of infection. Dioxins are among the most dangerous environmental pollutants. The international cancer research center lists dioxins as the first-class carcinogens of human beings.

These dioxins are produced in the chlorine bleaching process of some paper mills.
